Akoben exploded onto Detroit’s Reggae scene in 1981. Born out of the merging of their Afrikan Cultural Nationalist consciousness and the rebel, revolutionary rhythms of Rasta Reggae music, Akoben developed a style and message that inspired a generation of Afrikan People and others to be more aware of the injustices that have been perpetrated against Black People for centuries. The music stands as a beacon of hope that our struggles have not been in vain.
