Luma Knotty is a WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) Award-winning Green Bay band known for their original blend of guitar-driven funk, rock, and reggae. Founded in 2017 by guitarist Ryan Patrick with the idea to fuse his musical roots in blues and funk rock with his training from McNally Smith College of Music and his years of experience in roots reggae. While writing original music/lyrics, Ryan wanted to create a more modern approach to reggae, setting the vibe using vibrant stage designs. Luma Knotty was awarded the 2019 WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) Award in the World/ Reggae/ Ska/ Latin category. Their first EP ‘Sounds of Earth’ was released in February 2020 and their newest album ‘Bring the Light’ was released on January 30, 2023 and is available on all streaming platforms.

They have opened for such bands as: EN Young, Boulevards, Sophistafunk, and Baba Commandant & The Mandingo Band. They play such events as: Mile of Music, Electric City Experience in Kaukauna, Oshkosh Main Street Music Fest, All Bands on Deck Music Festival in Green Bay, Badger State Brewing Summer Concert Series, Levitt Amp Stevens Point Music Series, Vibin’ in the Pines Music Festival in Rosholt, World Naked Bike Ride Milwaukee, and Bastille Days in Milwaukee, as well as featured numerous times on 105.7 WAPL and WCZR Code Zero Radio.

We believe that a person can Look Sharp and be completely untucked at the same time. This reggae is very eclectic. The influences are deep and wide but inspiration comes from Ry Cooder and David Lindley. There are four people onstage but many instruments are played: guitar, acoustic guitar, bottleneck guitar, Weissenborn guitar, mandolin, Uke, Bouzouki. all colors of the rainbow, and under the rainbow, are welcomed. The lava lamp is always shining and always changing. In the words of Morgan Heritage… “No haffi dread to be Rasta.”

Imagine if David Bowie sang for UB40 – that’s how most music critics describe Clint Warren’s voice, along with guitar influences of Carlos Santana and Peter Tosh. Clint recently became one of the most downloaded Reggae artists in the world being certified Platinum by the RIAA in the fourth quarter of 2022. His EP entitled “Pacific Coast Reggae” landed on the U.S. iTunes Reggae charts at position #6 in October of 2022 and remained there for two months. In December the EP moved into the top 5 and remained there for over 1 week peaking at #2. That same month Grammy-U mentor, Oliver Sean, nominated Clint Warren’s EP for a Grammy in the Reggae EP category for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards where Clint will be competing against Reggae giants Bob Marley, SOJA, Stick Figure, and Tribal Seeds.
